The first stone of Giotto’s Campanile in Italy was laid.
Giotto’s Campanile is also known as the bell tower, part of Florence’s cathedral complex. The painter Giotto di Bondone was chosen to continue the works and designs for the cathedral on the Piazza del Duomo in Florence.
