A 14-year-old girl performed the world’s first human cannonball in London, England.

On April 10th, 1877 a 14-year-old Rossa Richter (aka. “Zazel”) became the first human cannonball with a performance at the Royal Aquarium in London, flying out of Hunt’s new cannon invention. She was chosen because of her size and her circus experience. The acrobat was shot out 26.5 feet (6 meters) from the cannon.
